Welcome back to Rapture friends and past visitors. If you have never played the first Bioshock, you are missing out on one of the most original IP's to come around in years. I will quickly sum up what the first game was all about in a nutshell. The first game is set in this late 60's vibe, your name is a Jack and he is flying somewhere important when his plane crashes and strands him in the middle of an ocean. Seeing a light house or what seems to be, swimming towards it reveals an entrance to Rapture.
Rapture is a place that seemed full of hopes and dreams, to mix humans with genetic enhancements called plasmids. Plasmids are human wielded powers such a shooting fire or lightning out of their hands and all types of other super human enhancements. Anyways, greed took over this whole underwater city and people turned into basically "crack heads" over plasmids. Everyone is like Junkies! Killing and stealing of each other, overdosed and most are mentally ill by now and very dangerous! These people have the nickname of "Splicers". Everyone is trying to find Adam, which is the you can use to buy more Plasmids. Everyone looks to find the little sisters who carry the Adam. Defeating the Big Daddy who protect them gives the choice to either save or harvest Adam from the little sister. If he harvest he gains a significant amount more Adam then would, if he saved them. So the whole story is to find the man that started this underwater hell in the first place, Andrew Ryan. I won't ruin the story so if you haven't played it, its a must.
In the sequel you play as a Big Daddy prototype called "Subject Delta" ten years after the first game took place. Back in Rapture once again. Making way again through the underwater city, trying to find out whats going on. There are splicers once again being shady and trying to take your life for the smell of Adam. The game doesn't feel as eventful as the first, but it is still atmospheric. The game still doesn't seem to compare to the first experience of being in Rapture. There was definitely more chills in the first game and more excitement of seeing more parts of Rapture, but the second was still not a let down. The visual are as gorgeous as the first if not a bit more. So may layers and textures on the character models and levels, it's is very impressive. The sounds is always been an amazing part of the first one, and it does not let down in the one either. All these classic 60's-70's songs randomly playing on broken speakers while some Splicer is ranting about something he forgot to do ten years ago, it really put me back in the atmosphere.
The combat in this title is nicely laid out. The plasmids are on your left trigger and to fire your weapon it is your right trigger. This is different from the first in that, before Jack would have to either choose which one he wanted to wield. He couldn't duel wield like the Big Daddy played in the second. It was a nice touch, but I have to agree it does make the combat a lot easier to handle not having to worry about busting out the plasmids arm when getting rushed by a pack of Splicers. So playing as a Big Daddy you get to use the Drill and level that up too. Almost all plasmids and some weapons can be leveled up. The Drill is handy for close combat and later in the game I learned to dash forward with it, and that is awesome. Seeing a Splicer, dash across the room at him, and spin him up! The hacking is back too. You can still hack turrets, cameras, and security bots by running up to them or you can use the hack tool to shoot darts that auto hack for you. I still think that was another takeaway to the gameplay, it makes it more easier. But different.
In the first game Jack would research enemies with cameras, this one is sort of the same but with video. So instead of taking a pictures you run film while fighting the enemies. The more damage or variety of plasmids I used on enemies, helps your score. What the scores does, is give me perks against that enemies permanently. Such as bonuses to make them weaker against your attacks. New type of Splicers show up in this game to, brute splicers. They are very bulky huge splicers that stomp around and threw various debris at me, one of tougher types. There is a lot of different types of Big Daddies too. There all are different models of the Big Daddy with names suck as "Alpha" Daddy for example. They still highly dangerous and always full off goodies if you decide to take them on.
The biggest addition would have to be the Big Sister. The sisters are relentless when they come. When I found a little sister I would save them. Right after that I would hear a high piercing scream and knew something is coming for me, these battle were the high of the game to me. They attack fast, run around the place, jumping, and are all out to for my death. They are tough to take down, great new addition. The story is about 10 hours long, and definitly worth the play through. The game on 2 different endings I believe, and playing it on the hard difficulty and go back and find all voice recordings. Thats all the single player has to offer for replay. This game is worth two playthroughs.
The multiplayer in this game is decent. I tried it out a couple times and had no problem hoping online and getting into some standard team deathmatch. You choose an avatar, which all look like splicers. Add accessories to them and create a class with all the weapons and perk I had unlocked. There is some joy to running around using the plasmids and shooting each other, but that novelty wears off quick. Here is my biggest beef with Bioshock 2, there was no need to add mutiplayer to this once amazing single player experience. The first game did it so well, and that's all it was. All the effort and time was put it in that amazing outing in Rapture. This game should have been the same, it didn't need this tacked on multiplayer. I don't think you need a multiplayer mode to make your game sell, a good lengthy single player game will sell for itself! Just like the first one did! 8.5/10

My First Wow Raid
So my friend. Lets see, we'll call him Dan for the sake of his addiction. lol Asked me what I was doing last Saturday night? I told him that "I had to work during the day and that I was free that night." Dan said "why don't you come by my place and watch the raid that I will be in?" Mind you he has been trying to get me to download the "10 day trial" for about a year now. Always asking me to come and play it, constantly talking about it whenever gaming comes up between us. I have been curious about the game, I have seen him play it before at the earlier stages of his "Wow career", like level 5 or so. He is now a level 80, and working on 3 other character. He is also in a guild with a bunch of people online and loving it for the most part. He plays it to the max, so far to ignore texts from friends cause he is so in to the game. Point being, he does get his $12 a month out of it. With me being on 360 and Ps3, I just never seen the point to pat that much a month to play one game. I guess it is for the whole service and experience. They seem to patch the game up a lot and always have millions of people playing it at once. Dan claims that its endless and always stuff to do, I just don't know what to think. So back to our conversation, I was like "sure man I come see what this hype is all about."
Saturday night comes and i'm done work for the day, off to Dans house for the night. He text me earlier in the day and told me that the raid is scheduled for 9pm. For those who don't know what a raid is, it's basically I group of players up to 40 players get together and go through massive levels of huge mobs and boss fights. The advantage to this is you find rare items and get to loot a bunch of cool shit, and of course play crazy boss fights with tons of players. So I get to Dans house and he has his computer already running Wow, he is on it running around the place in this main town. Storm Wind I believe. The place was packed with players everywhere, hanging out, talking, and planning missions. That was only in one main town, in a continent! This game is fucking huge! Tons of space and places to go and see just filled with tons of design. Graphically the game isn't close to anything of modern games, but its catered for really anyone to play. which is smart.
So were sitting there trying find out what is going on for tonights raid. He is pulling up chat bars, friend bars, guild bars, chatting and seeing who is online. At first glance, there is so much fucking stuff on the screen at once. You can see in my tilted picture at the top, all the little icons of moves, actions, spells, potions, and on and on..... I didn't even get it all in there! But it seems to me very overwhelming. I had to take in count his character is at this highest level cap too, so it will be a little to hop in and understand what every little button was for. I asked frequent questions about certain things, cause I knew once the raid kicked off he be in full battle mode and zoned in on whats going on. So we find out there all getting together at this certain Tower in the game world, and everyone is going to meet there now. So we head there by flying on some creature, and you actually have to sit there and watch him fly there. Different. So we get to the meeting spot and Dan tries to get a program were everyone can talk together to work (I try find out the name). He had it set up, but as the clutz that his is, he deleted some networking information to get in this chat room.
So trying to figure this out, I snapped that picture of everyone standing around at the meeting spot and beginning of the where the "raid dungeon" starts. Eventually he got it working, but it already kicked off people were on the move. The raid was 25 man(woman) made up of two guilds working together, and everyone is paired up into groups of 5's. There are different stat boards that pop up on scree to tell you who caused the most percentage in damage and what not, that everyone seems to gets addicted to. Dan was yelling about how he was "DP" was "pulling"... which means he is started to more damage and climb up the leader board for the Party damage. They would fight a Mobs of tough level 80 goons that were little taller and could take quite the beating, you definitely need pure communication through the different characters and their classes. You would have people healing each other, characters casting spells, and there would be the Tanks that do close combat and can take and deliver the most damage. Dans Wow character is an Archer type character that stands back and launched magic arrows with a giant bow, he also could cast some magic but not as affected as other Mages.
The video I posted showed on the first bigger enemies that came up I was like "holy shit, that guy is huge!" He wasn't even a boss, or anything out the ordinary I learned after I seen that enemy several times later in the raid. The First boss, was a giant skeleton that floated in the air with a huge axe. It was Massive. Everyone was just on the outside not attacking the boss, regenerating their health, magic, and what not. They all the were chatting, I could hear them cause Dan had it going through the speakers. Who was going to do what, and what the strategy was to defeat the boss. It was apparently pretty easy from what I seen them do it in, it was the first boss so people must have done this before. It did take maybe 10-15 mins to take down, but yeah some of those mobs of enemies took the same. The screen in combat is always filled with HP numbers coming up, how much damage was laid out! If 25 people are attacking, there is a lot of numbers on screen coming up. If you sit through one of these raids you knew that you were in for the long haul. Couple hours in I seen a couple more boss fights, and there were couple times the team would go down and have to go find your body again or wait for someone to raise you from the dead. That would take 15 mins to reorganize everybody back together and head back in.
Hours into this I realized, its not fun really to watch the game. There was times it would take 20 mins to take down one enemy. It wasn't boring but I seen it all really, and its something you have to play it yourself to enjoy the most. A single player experience would be best way to experience it, and your always online for playing with people and getting help with things. In the background of his place I could see his tv had the Premier League Football on, so if I got bored of watching that same fight I would glance at the tv. lol There was a lot of frustration near the middle of the raid it was like 3 hours in. Dan still couldn't find one piece of any item that he wanted or needed. If you find the piece you can roll the dice on it and who ever wins the roll gets to keep that item. There were car racing shows on the tv at this point, I was keeping my eye on some of that. The raid had a break for 15 mins, Dan could finally get a drink or go to the washroom. Same with everyone else that was playing. Once they all got back they planned for the next step. It seemed that it was all like a ladder that you get up, fight bosses get farther and farther. There were checkpoints after each big encounter, and thats where everyone would stop and wait and discuss strategies.
The final end of the raid was at a boss fight, everyone was getting wiped out. I stayed to see maybe 3 replays of the same part. The last one was definitely the closest, people were complaining about how other player weren't guarding there side. Enemies would spawn from right and left, you had to have people taking them out or it was over. Plus there was the main boss that the Tanks and Mages would be trying to suppress. people would either try to attack the boss and get defeated from either end or vice versa. It was like 1:30 am at this point and I was out of town, I was like Dan "Thanks for letting me come over and check this out, but I have to head out." Time flew by for the most part. I can see why he is caught up in this game and community, which that is what it is really. As for me I still have been thinking about playing it and getting into it, I just have so much other fun playing all my games on the consoles. It could be for me, but I just don't want to take away from all that. If they were to come out for one on the consoles, I would try it. Final Fantasy XI was the only mmo on 360 and that was $11 bucks a month. I couldn't do it, when I already pay $60-70 a year for the Live service. Anyways, as for Dan. I will just keep telling him "My Pc won't be able to run Wow!" lol
I tried the upload the video of the Raid for 8+ hrs, it never worked. Wtf Blogger ?

Assassins Creed 2 (Xbox 360)
Assassins Creed 2 is an open world game that takes place in two different time frames, present day and the late 1400's in Italy. It's kind of set up like the first game, just done way way better. Thank God! I can see that Ubisoft put a lot of time and listen to what the audience had to say about the first games flaws. In the present time you play as Desmond Miles, who is being forced as a prisoner to use the Animus 2.0. The 2.0 is a machine used to take a subjects mind back to there ancestral roots, and relive the memories they had back then. Before that Desmond walks around the the main building and talks to people who work there, and guide him on how to use the Animus 2.0 and what he is doing there. This part of the game was slow, I mean it almost take an easy hour just to get into the game. Then you get to meet this English asshole, who just talks shit to you and your like wow! I just want to get in the game, and get this going! Take me to Italy please.....
This is where the game takes off, when you get to meet Desmonds ancestor Ezio Auditore. A young man in who lives in the Italian Renaissance, he has a family and seems to be one for the ladies. He quickly learns that his life will change soon, the plot goes from good to worse for Ezio in at the beginning of the story. He finds out that his Father and brothers have been murdered. Ezio must learn to accept his fate and also learn what mysteries his family was hiding from him all these years. He quickly wants to take revenge and learns from his Mother and sister that he must follow the Assassins code. Ezio then begins his journey to change time forever. I wont get too much in to the story don't want to spoil it. It is so worth the time and money to play this game and see how beautiful the world really is. The character models and voice over work is spot on, it is just so well done and I felt apart of this story and everything in this world. The story can be a little cinematic at times. The graphics are gorgeous to say the least, the draw distance is very well done. Climbing and free running around the city I could see the amazing work that the team at Ubisoft did, and how beautiful the art design of Italy in the 1400's was. Excellent choice.
Running through the city the ambient noises I heard are random to say the least, and there is always something going on to hear or see. I would be running around and here people talking about politics in the squares, people selling merchandise, or just see someone yelling at me cause your running across their roof. Italian chatter is a very nice touch too, I love that, immerses you into the experience that much more. Music is very orchestral and very old school Italian themed, which was put together perfectly I think. The gameplay is tweeked from the first game. Ezio can disarm now with bare hands, counter, block, evade, and run and scale walls at will. This plays very smooth once I got the hang off it, but I feel sometimes it let me down. I would be going to make a jump and be so close and you fall to the ground. That said, the combat has improved. Everything from full out battles feel more fluent and more variety of the death/assassination animations. Game consist of tons of mission to do. Main mission, side missions (assassinate), tomb challenges, and collecting different items such as paintings and feathers. Sort of like the Flags in the first, which is what the feathers are in this game really. The assassins tombs were a nice touch, there were 6 in total I believe. They essentially were each a giant puzzle level, where Ezio has to scale walls and climb places within a certain time frame. They are very very challenging at times, and the controls sometimes let me down here too. In the end each one separately gives him a key to unlock Altairs armor, which I found a cool touch that it is possible to unlock the old armor from the past game.
Ezio acquires a Villa in a little town, where he can build up the city there. This is like a little meta game that helps him get deals at the blacksmith or taylors where he buys his armor from. Also the Villa helps generate steady income for you to purchase more gadgets for Ezio. I maxed this out as soon as I could, out almost everything I earned into this and was rewarded heavily. It almost seemed to make the game financially easier for me to buy things, which was a bonus and tip to anyone who hasn't played it to try. During the course of the main story Ezio meets up and take sides with some interesting people, the main person and historical figure I forgot to mention is Leonardo Da Vinci. He ends up helping Ezio with his quest to avenge his Fathers death. Ezio brings Leonardo various blueprints which then he makes them for you in his shop. One of the coolest things was the Pistole, a hidden Pistole under Ezios' sleeve. In one mission he builds Ezio a glider prototype, that he uses to infiltrate enemy quarters. It all ties in well and well executed story.
This is only a single player experience, which doesn't bother me any. I rather have something that has lots of love, depth, and care into it as a single player game for 20 plus hours , rather then a shitty 6 hour campaign with a decent multiplayer feature. The game was long, deep, and enjoyable and worth playing again for sure. It took me almost 25 hours to complete the campaign and all the side missions I did(still tons left). I definitely want to go back and do a lot more in the game, mostly side quest and collectables that I missed. There is downloadable content out for this game, that does add more chapters to the story holes that they left in the game. I haven't check them out yet. All in all Assassins Creed 2 has to be one of the top 10 if not 5 games of last year for sure. There was such a good amount of games that all came out this time last year that you might have missed this one, if you missed this one you should check this title out for sure. Well done Ubisoft. 8.5/10

Prototype (Xbox 360)
Prototype, ah yea I remember when I played this game. One of the many games that I first reviewed last year. I was set to play this game and rented it to see what it was all about. It came out around the same time Infamous came out for the Playstation 3, there was a lot of talk that these two games looked similar from first glance. I haven't played Infamous yet, it is on my "To Play" list for the Playstation 3. Prototype is an open world/sandbox type of experience, where you get to play as Alex Mercer. He is a man that wakes up from one hell of a bad dream, in a morgue being operated on! He has no memory of what is going on an idea where he came from. He has to link up with his sister Dana to find out what went on.
The world is filled with infected running around the massive city scope, and also with the Blackwatch armed forces. The army is called in to take care of any viral breakouts that occur. So with that said, they are after you too. Alex finds and learns that he has super human strength and can shape shift into other people by consuming them whole, this reminds me a lot of the old school resident evil monsters. Alex can change his arm into blades, run across the world at amazing speeds, he can glide through the air at will and come down with crashing elbows. In the open world there are missions that range from different type of objectives, they seemed to get a little on the repetitive side. Go to this Hive (base), blow everything up and get whats inside, grab intel or absorb this important person and come back here. There are also challenges like gliding and free running type that you unlock to earn more experience to buy more perks for Alex. The main way to earn experience is to absorb people. This is the bread and butter of the gameplay.
Alex can absorb human/infected for health boost, for experience and knowledge, and most importantly for their memories. You use this mechanic all the time for missions you need to look like a certain agent or army personal to sneak into a base and infiltrate it and learn more. He is trying to piece back what happened to him and how he is all connected to it all. That, is where I got lost. The story really never caught on to me. I wanted to get in to it but I just didn't get into cause you are always lost on where it was going. You see chopped up memories and try to piece things together yourself.... torture. The game does look very good and runs very clean for the fast pace it has and insane amount of carnage... INSANE! There is shit blowing up everywhere, from smashing tanks, to having dog fights with helicopters, intense chases you name it.
The sound was very well done, sounds of destruction fill the surround sound. The voice acting was a little over the top, but the whole thing is way out there to begin with. At times, the frame-rate did seem to bog down and not run as smooth as when there is chaos all over the place. The gameplay was solid but at times I felt very frustrated with the certain missions and boss fights, I seemed to die the most on some stupid constructed boss fights. Especially the last one, OMG. No spoilers. The amount of stress when playing this was pretty up there, constantly having to shake off everything thats following you or dying cause of the boss fights are somewhat stupidly designed got to me. The camera sometime was all over the place and targeting system let me down for the most part too.
All in all, it was a solid rental. I believe I completed the game just over ten hours of gameplay which was above average these days. I played through it once and had no desire to ever do it again. No desire to put this on my Buy list for further purchases, even at discounted rates I had enough of this game. You might think different of the whole experience then me. When it was all said and done, I was happy that it was over and that I was taking it back to the store. 7/10

Gran Turismo (Psp)
First off. Before I talk about this game, just want to say in full discloser is that i'm a huge Gran Turismo fan and have always been since the first one was launched in North America in 98'. Gran Turismo for the Psp, this game was in development for this platform a long time... like any game from Polyphony! Originally the game was going to be a GT 4 port, but portable. That never happened and that game must have somehow got transformed in to this game. Anyways, I was pumped to play this game when I heard it was coming out. I Did tons of research and read a whole wack of reviews on this game, which I have to say were just average and poor. This was foreign to me as a GT fan, and I just had to play it for myself too see. I was not disappointed!
Gran Turismo has a single player and multiplayer game modes, where you can race the computer or your friends. The licence challenge mode is back again, where you go through and earn credits to purchase more vehicles. There are bronze, silver, and gold medals for all 103 challenges in the game, which is quite fair if you ask me. Using this mode first I found is good to get use to the controls and to brush up on your Turismo skills too. Plus, you get to try out some awesome cars and see what they can do. A real challenge in some of these little events, the last couple sets have full laps and you must be very on top of your game, you can't hit the wall or grass or you have to start over!
The control of the game is very accurate, sometimes at high speeds it can be a little touchy where you rather prefer to have a controller in your hand then using the "nub" psp analog stick. You can still use the d-pad if you like, which does involve a lot of tapping but can help you out if you have trouble with the analog. The graphics are just gorgeous for the psp screen, it really does look like your playing a little Ps2 game in your hand. The game runs at 60 frames per second which makes the game look even better at high speeds, the car models are also well represented. There is probably over 800 plus cars in this handheld racer, you buy them with credits you earn from races and challenges. There is only four dealerships open every other day, which mean that you can only chose from 4 car makers at a time and what cars they offer that day, which has never been done before in GT. This means you just can't go in and buy the Honda Nsx you wan't, you have to wait till it is offered and even then the model or year you want might not be there.
The one major downside of this game is that you can only race against 3 other cars, which is 4 total on screen. Which is a let down at first, but you do get used to it after time especially when you play it on the fly. There is also no upgrades for the cars, and you can't buy accessories and or modify the cars at all really. It is set up more like Gt 5 Prologue. You buy a car, pick your paint job and your on your way. In Drift-trial mode you do laps by yourself or against your ghost, you can modify your HP and some other options to make the car better, but thats it. The single player is really just single races, you pick the class you want to race against ( AI difficulty), your car and your track and your off. It doesn't seem like much to do, and I could see how it could get boring over time. But, if your are a car enthusiast at all this is like a Car-PG and addicting little game. You get addicted to collecting cars, and racing races, beating lap times and waiting for the next dealership you been waiting for to show up.
The multiplayer is simple, you and up to 3 other people can all get on via ad-hoc and race each other. To use ad-hoc means you have to all be near each other to play together. I tested this with a friend, and we got into a couple race, we added 2 other AI opponents. It ran smooth and was a very exciting experience that we both enjoyed. You can also trade cars that are tradable, but I had some problems finding the cars in my collection. I can see them in my collection, but when I went to race with those certain cars I couldn't find them in there, was kinda of confusing to me and don't think I ever solved that problem. If you buy this game off the Playstation Store on the Psp Go, I believe there is a manual in the options if you need to refer to it for something. There is tons of replay value to this game, pick up and race, and collecting cars here and there. If you are a GT fan this is a "no-brainer." 9/10

Download A Punch In The Face!
I will try to be short with this, I swear. Last night my friend and I were chilling at my house scrolling through the Playstation Store, cruising the new demo lists that were out recently. We stumbled across a game called, "what the fucks this stupid game called?" I have to roll back my computer chair, grab my controller to scroll down to the title cause I can't remember what it is it to write about it! Thats how forgettable this title is! Oh yeah, the title..... Sengoku BASARA - Samurai Heroes. Uh huh. Like most demo titles is the Psn Store this didn't strike me is too crazy, Playstations extended Jap/korean developers come out with some crazy shit.
As i'm writing this I can hear the stupid music from the main screen going off, sounds like an off fake Street Fighter IV beat going on and on and on.... Oh My GOD! Anyways, last night I remember my friend telling me about how this game would be a mix of Devil May Cry game play, soon as I heard that it struck an interest to me. I have always been a fan of the over the top Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry series, and even Bayonetta! Sexy high speed action games that demand timing and precision to the max, endurance too! I had no patience with this game, so much that i played 20 mins of it, took some photos, and proceeded to hop on my computer and write about it.
It turned out to be what I fear the most in this type of game, which by the way is no where in the same Realm as any of the previous titles i mention!!!! It turned out to just be a another Dynasty Warriors clone, and when your trying to clone something like Dynasty Warriors you have to go way above what they have been doing so shitty for their last 20+ titles or so.... pure garbage! My first picture shows one of things I can't stand the most about these stupid games, enemies/AI standing around doing absolutely nothing! Nothing at all, matter in fact my next picture shows me blocking standing there in one spot. I proceeded and counted to almost twenty seconds before someone even tried to attack me.
These action games just consist of big scraps really, there is a boss and the end of the level and you have to reach him and defeat him! Through these levels it is just literally groups/mobs of warriors that see you, run up to you, and do nothing! I don't know what you have to do as a developer to CRANK up that AI in this game , but it needed it like "something fierce." That doesn't even describe it, in 2010. Its the basics! Any button mashing hippy could blast through this game in a matter of no time, and even then they would probably get burnt out and realize that they have been doing the same exact thing over and over! There is nothing to separate it from that comparison of Koei's Dyanasty Warriors series. The bad English voice overs, the maps, the style, and course lame Ai animations and movements. I just don't get it!!!! I really don't!!! How the fuck with all the endless knowledge and creativity in this world do groups of people always agree/pass shit like this to be made. Who invests in games like this ? Who are these people that sit around at their round tables like a scene out of a movie and take votes to pass this shit! Show Me!?!? No one is interested in this shit anymore, it was played out years ago!!! It's the little kids that don't know any better that get fucked around when it comes to quality gaming and being suckered for! This game probably retails close to $70, it's not worth .99 cents!! Matter of fact, just download the demo for FREE and you will get all you need there!! Your better off buying seventy .99 cent iPhone games, that would keep you far more occupied, like TIMES A THOUSAND! I will finish up with this, the last picture I photographed is me in a "Heated" battle with a mob of goons and my kick-ass ally(blue over his name). He is a giant Samurai dude that looks bad ass and has a huge sword with a spinning auger on it, sound like he could help me clear out the thousands of enemies I have to kill to advance?!!? right!?!? Nope! He does nothing, he stands around while taking random shots to the face every ten seconds or so!?!? That was the end of that demo for me!!!!! FML! DELETE!

My iPhone 4 Experience So Far
To start off, I want to say that I have always wanted one of these phones since they arrived in Canada on the Rogers Network! At the time I was on Bell, couple months prior I renewed my contract with them and received my upgrade phone. I got the Samsung SPH-m610, which at the time was one of the most stylist and sleek/slim flip phones on the market. My previous phone before that one was a Samsung, and I never had any problem with it as a device, so I stuck with it for my next 3 year Ball-and-Chain contract! Well, Two months or so go by course, Canada will be getting bunch of smart-phones! iPhones too!?!
So there I was basically fucked over for this duration of the burst of "early adapters", specially when it came to getting an iPhone! I have always been one of those people who has wanted something first when it came to games/gadgets, only if they caught my radar though! So I basically had to wait it out, there was no chance I was switching over to Rogers. I have had Rogers phones long time ago and was not to pleased with customer service. Couple of my friends had iPhones so I could always check theres out and mess around with it. I have always been a fan of Apple products, the clean designs of their operating systems. Everything looks and runs so clean! Sexy!
So this year my three year contract was coming up and I was looking at getting a 3gs, Palm Pre, or BB Bold. The iPhone 4 was announced weeks after I realized that my upgrade was slowly coming up, they would start sending me pamphlets in the mail! "Upgrade To a Smart Phone Now!" Meh! I decided to look into the 4 and all its specs, read and watch on everything about it that I could! These phones in my opinion cost way too much if you want to buy them out, so your are stuck with them for three years or so! It was a big deal to me, I didn't wanna make a bad choice, plus I have waited two plus years to get one why not get one!?! I wasn't disappointed!
The day I went to get my phone I was so anxious, barely got any sleep the night before and was all wound up on getting this phone for some off reason as if it was Christmas morning as a little boy! I went to pick up my phone from our local mall, I was pumped! My friend worked there and had my phone waiting for me, he opened up the box and he took out the phone and showed me. I was amazed! Sexy as fuck! He put my screen protector on the front and suckered me into getting some cases off him, was a good idea cause i wasn't chancing scuff marks on the first day! I proceeded home and text some friends and sent some picture messages to see it in action. I went in my room and started typing in some contacts and numbers from my old phone, and getting rid off a lot of waste too! This took soooooo long to do, its like moving, I haven't done it much in my life but I fucking hate it!
The first two days was mostly downloading apps and getting my backgrounds and main apps that I knew I wanted on the device, my neck hurt so much! omg! looking down at that screen all day, was not a good idea. I basically got used to it, or I somehow just tried to give up on looking at down it so much and keep busy with other things. I started tweeting with my phone, I have always wanted to get into the Twitter world, but I thought it would so much better if it had it on the go! That's the whole point of it I thought! Gaming on the phone is different, I won't try to go off too much right now that's a whole separate blog post I believe! I tried many games, mostly free or what is offered for free that day! I tend to lean towards puzzle games and strategy games, the action games with analog on the screen I find hard to use and not as accurate as say my Psp.
I have had no problems with calls dropping and all that bullshit that people made a big deal about, the screen is so gorgeous! The touch screen is like no other! It responds one to one with what your fingers are suggesting. The speaker on it blares out beats and you tube crystal clear. I have tried Face Time calls with couple different friends who have the iPhone 4 and it worked perfect over the WiFi at home, quality of the image was clean and crisp. I also find myself reading a lot more cause of having the iPhone 4, the selection of books in iBooks is great. You can also look up comics readers and types of readers in the app store. I tend to go online and read some blogs, think help motivate me to start one myself! I downloaded apps to impress my family and show off some tricks and entertain them. I use the camera almost everyday taking pictures or using the video camera to film friends, cars, or anything out of the ordinary lol All in all my experience has been nothing but a sweet victory that I have been waiting to taste for three years, and it paid off!

Demons and Souls
So how about this? First Blog and first?..... I thought about this all day at work today. What could I talk about? It had to be something about gaming? "A game, what game though?" Then it hit me, "ah yes, I got it". I have seen shows and read all types of reviews/articles on what was the "best game of 2010" , and everyones expert opinion on why their choices. They all seemed to be leaning towards title such as Uncharted 2 and Cod4 Mw2, both fantastic titles I agree! But I just didn't get it! How could they not even mention something like the most underrated game of the year, Demon's Souls!
This Japanese premium imported game is some of the most challenging and rewarding games of all time!!! I know that is a very tall statement for this time in gaming. There was such a buzz going on about this game before its launch, my friend and I did massive research to see what all the hype was about!?!? All basically came down to the same conclusion, this game took no prisoners! Now from my stand point this was some of the most interesting news i heard in awhile, I personally love a challenge and difficulty!! Being pushed to the max to achieve the ultimate goal, so this was right up my alley.
This game was on my radar from weeks to come, thinking wonder what its really like ? Many claimed it was too much, and just got you way to frustrated to the point of wanting to break stuff! I have had the history of being pretty patient when it comes to gaming, I built that from being a kid in the 8-bit era and playing those games until completion, frustration was always there being a kid and all!!! In those days most games didn't have saves or memory cards, it was a one time deal. This is what this game consists of, brutal level design with will take its toll in you mentally! If you die thats it start from the start again, and lose all your souls(currency). You could make it all the way to the gate of where the next boss is waiting to kill you and take your souls and be struck by an arrow and die! lol
Atlus and From Software have really made a game this generation needed. I solid single player action RPG with amazing level designs almost structured in a old school format! It was released in Japan first were it gained popularity, then it was brought over by here. I don't know why Sony didn't of licensing, but it is here! Games in this time seem to be leaning towards a playable movie, which is fun! But what is the take away? What do you get out it? You just ride the rails, and if you die! oppppssss!!! Just restart close to where you were, knowing the mistake you made. Shit, most games only last 6-8hrs now! Even most cartridges could produce more then that, shit..... the PS1 had more lengthy/quality titles!!!
Here is why this game was my number one of last year. This game takes skill, patients, and endurance to complete or even tackle! You are a dead knight, fighting you way back to defeat a demon to regain your life! sounds simple? It honestly isn't! It's so much more then that. With thousands of weapons/armor and other goodies in the game there is always something to get, loot, or search for in the worlds! With a level cap of 712 and increasingly more souls to gain to reach this goal, it could be considered one of the longest Rpg's on the PS3. Every playthrough (If you can even reach that) get tougher, harder! The multi-player is a key element in this game too. You can leave souls signs in the worlds you visit, that other people inhabit too. These signs can be either helpful like "new weapon ahead" or misleading like "new weapon ahead" as you jump off the cliff!!!! See what I mean ?
You can't really see anyone physically, just an illumination of there body on soul form! Everyone running around trying to get free. The other soul sign is for a dead person to put down and cast a living person(s) to help them. In this you and your friend can blast through levels together helping him regain his living form and move on to the next level..... There is not chat feature, which pissed a lot of gamers off!!! I agree.... at first, but then realized this was smart design for multi-player! With communication it would make them game a little easier, and if they were going for that ? Fuck ! They did it!! But its not really a big deal, all you have to do is call your friend on the phone, hook up the blue-tooth set and go grinding too! Grinding is long and takes time, cause lets face it you can loose everything you earned in the level if your not careful! You can always run to the start of the level and hit up the Nexus, which is the place like limbo! This is where you plan for your battle!
The nexus consists of a blacksmith who can fix you up with weapons and repair them for you, a man who holds your items for you, and the Maiden. The Maiden is the one who take your souls you collected and level up your powers and attributes. There is also a Mage and A priest, the both sell you various spells and mircles which you will need! Farther in the game and based on who you save/rescue you can also unlock more characters that can help you out, won't spoil that part! The Combat is tough fast and keep you on your toes, blocking is key and counter attacks! Weapon choice for certain situation will always help, you can easily be cut down with couple strikes!
This is best part about the game, combat! This is what makes or breaks this type action rpg, cause if its too boring and filled with stories you can lose your gamers easily, and they just want to get to the point of it all and eventually don't even care about the story in the long run! This game makes you fear for your life, makes you think that at ever turn in the game I could die, simple as that! That is the feeling I like to chase in a game, cause once you have completed that level the sense of reward is unmatchable! I haven't felt that since I first played Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube in 05. That's why it is my pick of last year and so much more, it is something that you truly have to experience for yourself if you call yourself a "Gamer." 10/10
